How to be Awesome at Life: Daily Rituals That Make You Happier
There is a natural law of abundance which pervades the entire universe, but it will not flow through a doorway of belief in lack and limitation. ~ Paul Zaiter
How happy are you? Are you living a life that’s just ok or are you one of the few who lead a fulfilling, meaningful and abundant life, brimming with opportunities, potential, fun, joy and laughter?
If you’re not one of the few, chances are it would be pretty good to become one, so here’s 4 daily rituals that can make you happier and become really awesome at life.
Empty your plate
Every moment of your life deserves your full attention, which is hard to do when your plate is full of self imposed deadlines, or when you let the expectations of others win the day or you accept and allow constant interruptions and distractions.
Is your time being used on projects or experiences that excite you and fill you with the energy of your own unique spirit?
If not, take a step back and do a check of your current ‘to do list’ and find out how much of your time is spent on doing things that feel great. Make sure most of your list falls into that category.
Remember, everything that’s on your plate is there because you said YES to it.
Stop doing things you feel you should do, when you really don’t have to and learn to recognize the difference. You’ll make incredible progress towards being totally awesome at life.
So what should you put and keep on your plate?
Make time for ‘not this time’
According to Warren Buffet the difference between successful people and the rest of us is that they say ‘no’ to almost everything.
You don’t have to believe that blood sweat and tears are necessary to be awesome at life but you do have to believe that when things get tough you can get through it and this means staying focused on what truly matters to you and not being distracted by outside influences.
Turn down the voices of others, turn off the tv and any other distractions.
If you’re not sure you’re really focused on what will make you awesome at life ask yourself these questions.
Do I actually have to do this at all? (True confession…I’m guilty of getting caught up in things I really don’t need to do)!
Could someone else do it instead of me? (There are times when someone else could do something better than you could).
If I do it and it’s pretty good, can I accept that? (We all know about perfectionism…so enough said).
You might discover that it’s rare that you get a yes to all four questions in which case, decide what needs to be dumped, delegated, or just get started…maybe moving something onto tomorrow’s list.
By not diverting your energy you can put all your effort into making things happen that matter to you.
This is how the really successful accomplish so much, they invest their time in their priorities which means being able to say no to the demands of others or the distractions of daily life.
That’s what you need to do.
Make a list of five priorities for the day and follow through on them. Then go and play! Fun matters.
Have you ever woken up to the thought, I haven’t had enough sleep? I know I have. And by the time you throw off your covers you’ve mentally started your day with the idea of scarcity.
From there it can get worse. Throughout your day you follow up with the thoughts, of not enough. Not enough time, not enough money, not capable enough, not enough of everything. Education, happiness, beauty, fitness or health…whatever it is we don’t have enough of it. (Read The Soul of Money).
Not enough becomes our justification for not being who we want to be, not accomplishing our heart’s desires and it’s the number one way we crush our dreams. This mind-set of scarcity robs you of realizing your magnificent potential and blinds you to the opportunities already in front of you.
Don’t do this to yourself.
If you listen to others, you’ll find most of them have an assumption that scarcity is a natural part of life. But it doesn’t have to be that way…don’t follow the crowd, don’t accept their assumptions…they generally don’t know where they’re going or what they’re doing.
Wake up tomorrow and say, today is going to be a great day, I am strong and capable. And smile.
Or try my all time favourite that I fall asleep in and wake up to: ‘Something wonderful is happening for me now, thank you, thank you.’
I don’t know why this works, all I can tell you is it works wonders in my life. When I use it regularly I find that after two weeks or so, great things begin to pop up that weren’t there before. If you try this one, let me know how it worked for you!
Train yourself to wake up to thoughts of plenty. Smile and repeat.
Everything at it’s deepest essence is energy and with every thought, you’re working with this force in the quickest way possible.
Your thoughts are always trying to try to manifest themselves into the physical outer world. But because our regular thoughts are more like the sparks of a fire than the flame…they don’t last long enough to generate any power.
On the other hand, thoughts that are repeated become concentrated and the more the thought is repeated the more its force is magnified and the more easily it can manifest itself. Especially when that thought is connected to a feeling.
How would you feel if you received something you’d been hankering after for a long time?
Choose a thought that represents what you want to have happen, and as you repeat it to yourself add the feeling of having received it.
If you truly want to be awesome at life remember this:
“The possibilities of thought training are infinite, its consequences eternal, and yet few take the pains to direct their thinking into channels that will do them good, but instead leave all to chance.”
So take the time every day to fan the flames of your thoughts towards ideas that bring you the best, most awesome life you can imagine. You can do it. You deserve it.
